Where Did Health Junkee Go?
Hey everyone — it’s Nat here.
First and foremost, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported Health Junkee from day one. From our early days in Bli Bli to our time on Aerodrome Road in Maroochydore — every smile, every shake, every chat has meant the world to me. You’ve helped shape something that was never just a business; it was a community.
But yes — we have, in fact, closed our shopfront business.
The doors might be shut, but the heart of Health Junkee lives on <3
How It All Started
The idea for Health Junkee was born in my kitchen. During one of those chaotic family seasons, I found myself blending anything and everything to keep us healthy — smoothies packed with vitamins, superfoods, and supplements because, like most parents, I didn’t have time to cook elaborate meals every day. That’s when I thought: what if there was a space where everyone could access that same convenience — a shake, a supplement, a coffee — something that fit real life but still felt good?
So Chris and I decided to bring that concept to life.
We envisioned a place that encouraged balance — health without obsession, nutrition without pressure, and a community that celebrated both wellness and lifestyle.
When Passion Meets Reality
But here’s the honest truth — building something from scratch is hard.
Our first shop in Bli Bli was born purely from passion and grit. I had never run a retail store before. Chris had to stay full-time in our other business just to keep us afloat, so I threw myself into it — learning every single thing on the fly. Stock orders, supplier accounts, early mornings, late-night cleaning, marketing, payroll — you name it, I did it.
It was chaotic.
It was beautiful.
It was exhausting.
We quickly discovered that what people loved most wasn’t the supplements — it was the shakes & the coffees that were getting the most attention.
That realisation led us to reimagine Health Junkee into a smaller, more hospitality-style space in Maroochydore. We love the brand and the message behind it and we were trying to evolve into a more sustainable business, but in turn the business began to shift away from what we’d originally set out to create growing from retail to full hospitality. The move from Bli Bli to the new Maroochydore space also did not play out how we originally envisioned and dreamt it.
Before I knew it, I was pouring coffee six days a week instead of building the lifestyle we’d dreamt of. I loved the people, but the business model was starting to own me — and that wasn’t the goal.
I’m not afraid of hard work, but I’m also extremely big on personal growth and I have a deep appreciation for life and gratitude for the extremely happy marriage and family I have, which was beginning to suffer.
The Turning Point
There’s a Chinese proverb that says:
“If you realise you’re on the wrong train, get off at the next stop — because the return ticket is longer.”
That line replayed in my mind for months.
Health Junkee had become everything except what it was meant to be.
It wasn’t giving us freedom. It wasn’t bringing balance. It certainly wasn’t nurturing our health.
The wellbeing of myself and my husband began to suffer — physically, mentally, emotionally. Chris and I are incredibly close, and yet we found ourselves constantly working, constantly tired, constantly running. It hit me one day that we’d built a business called Health Junkee — and we were sacrificing our health for it.
So we made the hard decision to step off the train.
Not because we failed, but because we finally had the courage to listen to our gut.
We realised that success built on stress isn’t success at all. Even though there is SO MUCH content out there suggesting such things. And whilst it can be true for some cases that YES business is hard and determination will lead to succuss, when the passion for your idea flames out and it’s stripping you of any of your core values that lead to you even starting your own business in the first place you have to ask yourself - is this serving us? And if we kept going out of fear instead of alignment, we’d lose the very thing that mattered most — our health & happiness.
Health Junkee Was Never Just a Shop
Health Junkee has always been more than a location — it’s a philosophy.
It’s about feeling good from the inside out — physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It’s about finding balance in a busy world, fuelling yourself with good things, and living well.
So we’re moving our energy online — where we can still connect, educate, and inspire through blogs, collaborations, and products that actually enhance real life.
I’ll be sharing my own journey back to health — my routines, mindset tools, supplements I love, and the lessons I’m learning about self-care and balance. We’ll also continue to stock our favourite products online, with exclusive trainer collaborations, discounts for clients, and community perks for those who’ve supported us from the start.
If you’re a personal trainer, gym owner, or wellness coach — I’d love to connect. This new phase is about collaboration, authenticity, and creating an ecosystem that empowers people to live well.
What’s Next for Us
While Health Junkee transitions online, Chris has stepped into a new role as COO of BPI Building & Pest Inspections — our long-standing family business that’s been thriving for over two decades.
That opportunity gave us clarity. It reminded us that the very reason we started Health Junkee — to build a sustainable, scalable lifestyle — was already within reach. By redirecting our focus, we can now achieve the balance and growth we were always seeking, but without sacrificing the very things that make life meaningful.
We’re choosing happiness, health, and alignment over burnout.
We’re trusting that by letting go, we make space for what’s meant for us.
As my favorite Law of Attraction teacher Amanda Frances says “There is another way”
A Final Word
To every customer who’s walked through our doors — thank you.
To everyone who believed in the brand, snapped a shake photo, or stopped by just to chat — you helped create something bigger than four walls.
Health Junkee isn’t gone.
It’s evolving — into a platform, a community, a movement for wellness without compromise.
I’ll be blogging regularly about my personal journey “Back to Health,” sharing stories, insights, and products that help you live your best life. Because if there’s one thing this chapter has taught me, it’s that success means nothing without health and happiness.
Here’s to evolving — not quitting.
Here’s to being healthy, happy, and free.
With love,
Nat 💛
